War is a constant. It erodes all life. It even gives love a run for its money. This is an antiwar video from footage found on youtube and the internet. It highlights the refugee. #RefugeesWelcome
As for editing, I did utilize a lot of effects and sound but tried to keep it natural and not too imposing. I put together a cinematic feel with a call-to-action. Something an organization will use for the promotion of a campaign or cause.
I went for a documentary feel using longer fades and masks. The project was to highlight a small town labor union fighting to keep local jobs at an oil refinery. The footage came from a live stream and did present some challenges. I used footage from youtube of the Lima area. Using speed ramps and quick cuts, I came up with a style for b-roll footage. The music is meant to inspire but also create some tension. I hope you enjoy it.
Servant leadership is a leadership philosophy in which the goal of the leader is to serve. This is different from traditional leadership where the leader’s main focus is the thriving of their company or organizations. A few main points directly reference in the video are empathy, commitment, listening, and building community. That being said, the whole project aims to be both literal and abstract in describing the importance of servant leadership.
A video I produced for a presentation I gave to AmeriCorps VISTAs at Michigan Community Service Commission. Asked to introduce the cohort to the concepts of design-thinking, I decided it would be more dynamic to make a video. We then went into a QnA session for the remaining time. It was a great experience. I focused on narrative, transitions, color, and the soundtrack. I utilized Doodly for the animations. I used Envato for stock video and sound. There is some After Effects work in the titles. There are a lot of things I would do differently in retro, but I think I was successful all-around.
